South Korea once had around a million babies a year. In 2023 it had around 230,000, and its fertility rate hit 0.72, the lowest ever recorded. Delivery rooms went dark. Pediatric clinics closed. Kindergartens became nursing homes. And underneath it all is a quieter story: young men and women who stopped pairing up.
In this video, we walk through five ways the male exodus already hit South Korea, from rural bachelors who couldn't find wives to the "4B" movement and the gender split, and why America's hospitals, already losing delivery rooms and pediatric units, could be next.
In this video:
✔️ How deep Korea's birth collapse goes
✔️ Delivery rooms going dark
✔️ "Open run": the vanishing children's doctors
✔️ The surprising one: it started with lonely farmers
✔️ Young men and women split apart
✔️ When hospitals turn into nursing homes
✔️ America's maternity care deserts
