I used to think being a good friend meant being available immediately, for however long you needed me, no questions asked. And that one assumption quietly ran me into the ground for years. This video is me thinking out loud about how I've been unlearning it, and what it's actually cost me to hold on to it for as long as I did.
We're getting into the energetic invoice framework I've been living by, the difference between being a safe space and being an always-open door, why the voice in the back of your head telling you to call back right now is worth questioning, and what really simple boundaries actually sound like in real friendship moments. I'm also sharing the call that cracked this wide open for me, where I sat there tearing up, saying nothing, and watching the line item on my energetic invoice climb and climb.
If any of this is landing for you, drop your thoughts in the comments. I'm especially looking for real-life examples of simple boundaries you've set, word for word, so we can build a little script bank together. That's the kind of learning I'm most interested in right now. Let's talk down there.
