My First!! EPIC Otis Touch-Sensitive Traction Elevators - Northland Towers West - Southfield, MI

I have seen dozens of videos on YouTube of people riding Otis elevators with the unique touch fixtures. All installations with them near me have since been modded, among many others that were once on YouTube, making the fixture nearly extinct. The fixtures don't press at all. They complete the electrical circuit using the body heat and electric pulse from your finger (I think, someone please correct me if I'm wrong). Thankfully, the Northland Towers complex has multiple sets of elevators that are still original with these fixtures, and ‪@tkefan29‬ was kind enough to take me to see them! These are both the first elevators with touch I've ridden and the first on this channel. The Northland Towers complex is situated near the former Northland Center mall. Consisting of 4 main buildings, the complex is sadly not in great shape anymore. Most of the offices are empty, leading me to think this place is slowly becoming abandoned. Sadly, I don't know how much longer this complex has as a whole.... The first building is Northland Towers West, containing 2 main elevators (with touch) and 1 service elevator to serve the buildings 9 floors. Although the main elevators are quite epic and are cosmetically in decent shape, like many older Otis elevators, these are very tired and as such are quite worn out and are starting to have some glitches. I was amazed that both of them were running on this visit. The 2 in the west tower do seem to be holding up decently well. I will say though, the touch fixtures definitely live up to the hype! For those who don't know, touch was made in 3 designs: Square, Circle, and Arrow (call station only). Square was the one I had wanted to see the most, and these are certainty fun to press! It is weird though to "press" a button and not have any physical contact move with it!
