Snowflake task in simple term is scheduler which can help you to schedule a single SQL or a stored procedure. Task can be very useful when combined with streams to make an end to end data pipeline. The Snowflake task engine has a CRON and NON CRON variant scheduling mechanisms. The CRON variant should look familiar syntactically if you are a Linux guy. Snowflake ensures only one instance of a task with a schedule (i.e. a standalone task or the root task in a tree of tasks) is executed at a given time. If a task is still running when the next scheduled execution time occurs, then that scheduled time is skipped. To get timely notification and to enjoy all cool demo & technical details.
