Contrariwise | How to Forgive, Ask Forgiveness, and Live Forgiven | 2 Corinthians 2

What happens when somebody hurts you...and you’re the one who keeps paying for it? In 2 Corinthians 2, Paul tells the church: “So that contrariwise ye ought rather to forgive him, and comfort him…” There had been a time for correction. Now it was time to move the other direction...forgiveness, comfort, and restored love. Then comes the warning: “Lest Satan should get an advantage of us.” In this short audiobook, we trace biblical forgiveness through the King James Bible and uncover some fascinating connections...from the first “forgive” in Genesis 50, to Jubilee and seven times seven, to Christ’s “seventy times seven,” and finally to the 123rd forgive-family occurrence: “your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.” But the heart of the study is practical: How do I forgive someone who hurt me? How do I properly ask for forgiveness when I was wrong? And how do I actually receive forgiveness and stop carrying a debt that has already been released? Forgiveness doesn’t pretend the wrong never happened. It releases the account. And when the flesh says, “Collect,” grace says: Contrariwise. --- Written by Joshua M. Sells.
