Sri Dalada Maligawa #SriDalada Maligawa #srilanka Sri Dalada Maligawa, also known as The Temple of the Tooth at kandy is the final location of the sacred tooth of the lord Buddha which was brought to Sri Lanka during the era of king "keerthi sri Megawarna" by prince "Dantha" and Princess "Hemamala" from the kindom of Kalinga, India. It is located in the heart of Kandy town surrounded by the lake and the commercial district and it can be mentioned as one of the landmark sites in the city of Kandy. Sri Vardhana Pura of Senkadagala was the capital of the Kandyan kingdom. Senkadagala kingdom or the city of Kandy was the capital of the last Sinhala kingdom, situated at an elevation of 490 ft above sea level, surrounded by mountain ranges in the valley of the Mahaweli River. This is the sacred place where the most venerated, left tooth relic of Gauthama Buddha is housed. That is at the temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, a UNESCO world heritage site. The great entrance is called "Maha Wahalkada" where even the mighty deities bow down. The place where the mind is healed is none other than the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic.
