CHINA’S AVATAR MOUNTAINS ARE REAL! | Zhangjiajie + Furong Ancient Town Travel Vlog Join us on an unforgettable adventure through Zhangjiajie, China, home to the incredible sandstone mountains that inspired the landscapes of Avatar. Before exploring Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, we visited Furongzhen (Furong Ancient Town), a beautiful ancient town built around a spectacular waterfall. We explored the historic streets, watched cultural performances, and experienced Furongzhen at night. Then we headed to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, where we explored Tianzi Mountain, Yangjiajie, Yuanjiajie, the famous Avatar-inspired mountains, and the incredible Bailong Elevator. If you are planning a trip to Zhangjiajie, save this itinerary for your visit. ZHANGJIAJIE NATIONAL FOREST PARK ITINERARY East Gate / Mountain Tour Route - East A Line 1. East Gate to Tianzi Mountain Cableway Our inn was about a 5-minute walk from the East Gate of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. From the East Gate, take the scenic environmental protection shuttle bus for approximately 15 minutes to the Tianzi Mountain Cableway Station. 2. Tianzi Mountain Cableway to Helong Park Take the Tianzi Mountain Cableway up the mountain. From the cableway station, take the environmental protection shuttle for about 2 minutes and get off at Helong Park. Visit Yubi Peak, Fairy Offering Flowers, Tianzi Pavilion, Yunqingyan, and the Helong Bronze Statue. After exploring, return toward the Helong Park parking area at the fork. 3. Dian Generaltai and Shentang Bay Take the environmental protection shuttle for approximately 2 minutes to Dian Generaltai. Tell the driver in advance that you want to get off at Dian Generaltai. Walk approximately 10 minutes to the Dian Generaltai Observation Deck. After enjoying the view, return to the main road. Walk approximately 200 meters to Shentang Bay Station, then walk about 8 minutes to the Shentang Bay Observation Deck. 4. Shentang Bay to Yangjiajie Return to the road and take the environmental protection shuttle toward Yangjiajie. The journey takes approximately 35 minutes. Get off at the Wulongzhai intersection. 5. Yangjiajie, Natural Great Wall, Wulongzhai and Tianbo Mansion From the Wulongzhai intersection, walk approximately 15 minutes to the Natural Great Wall Observation Deck. After enjoying the view, continue walking for approximately 40 minutes toward Wulongzhai and Tianbo Mansion. After exploring, return to the Wulongzhai intersection. 6. Yangjiajie to Yuanjiajie Take the scenic environmental protection shuttle to Yuanjiajie. The journey takes approximately 10 minutes. Get off at Tianqiao Station and explore the First Bridge in the World, Pillar of the Universe, Hallelujah Mountain, and the Avatar-inspired scenery. 7. Yuanjiajie to Bailong Elevator Take the environmental protection shuttle toward Bailong Elevator Station. The journey takes approximately 5 minutes. After getting off, walk approximately 5 minutes to the Bailong Elevator. Take the Bailong Elevator down the mountain. 8. Bailong Elevator to East Gate After reaching the bottom, take the scenic environmental protection shuttle back to the East Gate. The journey takes approximately 25 minutes.
