Pigney's Wood is owned and managed by Norfolk Wildlife Trust. The site is over 20 hectares and consists of over 20,000 trees of 40 different species and is home for birds, butterflies, dragonflies and mammals. There is an old railway line that goes through the woodland which is a disused section of the former Norfolk and Suffolk Joint Railway, this is now known as the long distant footpath the Paston Way. The locals apparently know the woodland as the Ancient track and it leads to a 450 year old tree. You have a choice of pathways to follow and can enjoy walking along the small stretch of the Dilham Canal. There is a small free car park but no amenities. We love walking through the woodland of ancient and young trees, at any time of the year. Summer is our favourite time as the canal area is usually alive with bees, butterflies and dragonflies. Winter months it can get very muddy. If it's just a slow, chilled walk you're wanting, this is the perfect place to visit. I hope you enjoyed watching the video. Please give me a thumbs up, drop me a comment and consider subscribing... all would be very much appreciated.
