I Never Planned on This… || August 2026

I never really planned on having enough Cherokee yellow wax beans to can, but sometimes the garden surprises you! Today Andy and I are picking a good mess of wax beans, then we settle in on the porch to snap them together. What starts as a simple chore turns into one of those long porch conversations about life, our little True Grit business, and some of the changes we’re seeing around us, especially as more and more farmland here in North Carolina gives way to housing developments. After the beans are snapped, I head into the kitchen to get them canned and put away for the winter ahead. Thanks for spending another ordinary day here on the farm with us.
