The Incredible Engineering of the 1915 Ford Model T A wrecked car sits smoking on a sandy racetrack in Palm Beach, Florida, in the spring of 1905. Nobody remembers who was driving. Everybody remembers what happened next. A stocky, restless man in his early forties walks over to the wreckage while the crowd is still murmuring, and he crouches down in the sand, and he picks up a piece of a broken valve stem no longer than his index finger.
