Cycling the Camino de Santiago (Part 2)

Cycling the Camino de Santiago documents my journey along the Le Puy-en-Velay route of the Camino de Santiago ( Le Chemin de St. Jacques ). In Part 2 I travel from Cahors to the lovely Pyrenean town of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. Ride with me through the pastoral hills of Southwestern France, exploring the many small towns along the way. Enjoy the writings of the Aymeric Picaud, the French scholar, monk and pilgrim who accompanied Pope Callistus II on his twelfth century pilgrimage along the Way of St. James. His Codex Calixtinus, an illuminated manuscript giving background information for pilgrims, is thought to be one of the earliest known tourist guidebooks. Meander the streets of Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and mingle with the other pilgrims as they prepare to begin their journey on the Spanish section of the Camino. Enjoy!
