Kavyam Where Tradition meets poetry. It is an art of storytelling often exploring the play of expressions through repetition and patterns, in literature. This bharatnatyam margam- (repertoire) explores this format of narration. Krishika and her Guru Dr. Lata Raman have curated a traditional set of compositions that celebrates these attributes of kavyams namely- repetition, pattern, narration, literature and rhythm. We begin with a Sankirna Alarippu, a composition unfolding intricate patterns of tala and mātra woven to sankeerna (meaning 9)jaati. We present a Vishnu Kautuvam, exploring the narrative aspects showing Dasavatara swaroopa of Lord Maha Vishnu. It will be Followed by Shivastakam, a Sanskrit stotram which is a devotional poem penned by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. It describes the great deeds of Lord Shiva. We move on to literature- Malai poyithinele, the famous poem by Kalki Krishnamurthy. Celebrating Lord Muruga in his city where he resides as our own Maruda Malai Perumal. The performance concludes with a Tillana exploring rhythmic patterns through Ragam Hindolam and Adi talam.
