light ambient synthesizer sounds to ease the day.

hello :) & happy monday! i'm not sure i have mentioned this in my writings, but for the last month or two i have been religiously reading through the dune books by frank herbert. reading for an hour or two each night before bed. normally i read to wind down, but these books have me captivated and i'm having to stop myself from reading so that i may actually get some sleep haha. i feel warmly engrossed by the story and enjoy it very much. last week i was honored to be on tor njamo's podcast, and spoke about how meditative these long synthesizer sessions are, and how reading can be another kind of forced meditation. by that estimation i've been meditating a lot! anyways, i share all of this so you can get a sense of all that's going into my head when i do these improvised pieces. when i improvise like i do in this video, all of these thoughts and preoccupations of mine disappear as i focus wholly on the music. it's wonderful feeling, and it's a joy to share these other sides of me too in writing. now onto a few notes about the piece itself. this synthesizer you see here is new! this is the critter and guitarri organelle, which is an open-source synthesizer. the creators of the instrument have made a lot of interesting patches, but i am specifically using a patch that is from emilie gillet's "plaits", a modular synth voice. this plaits patch allows for polyphony, and it just beautiful to play and perform with. i know it's a sound i'll be leaning onto plenty in the future. my only small hiccup in this recording is the aliasing sound introduced when mixing in a pitch-shifted down voice. some form of digital noise gets introduced when pitch shifting as a result of sample rates (too complicated for me to truly understand lol), but you will be able to hear this in the final moments of the piece. lastly! thank you for your time listening to this music and reading these words. sharing my work with you is one of my greatest joys, so thank you. have a lovely day, and i'll see u in a week! warmly, -logan (ps. i do apologize for remi obscuring the majority of the video-- she's a sweetheart, albeit an opaque sweetheart.) setup: critter & guitarri organelle meris lvx meris mercuryx **I always opt for the fewest possible ads on youtube. if you would like to support the work i do, the number one way to support is thru bandcamp: https://logandanielmcdonald.bandcamp.com spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/7lODH... apple music:   / logan-daniel-mcdonald   #ambient #ambientmusic #chillmusic
