Nevada City, California, is renowned for having some of the prettiest fall foliage in the Sierra Nevada mountains. In this video, we combine the beauty of autumn with the drama of authentic 19th century steam railroading as two historic narrow gauge steam locomotives operate among the colorful trees at the Nevada County Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum. The steam engines featured are Nevada County Narrow Gauge No. 5, "Tahoe" an 1875 Baldwin 8-20D 2-6-0, and Antelope and Western No. 1, an 1889 H.K. Porter 0-4-0. NCNG No. 5 is the oldest operating narrow gauge steam locomotive in the United States, and was originally built for the Lake Tahoe Narrow Gauge Railroad. A&W No. 1 was built for the Sacramento Brick Company, and was saved from scrap by the Wilmunder family, who own and operate the engine today.
We'll join in the fun as the two trains run around the museum's meadow trackage, and we experience trackside views and cab rides! Filmed over the course of several visits, these scenes are a delightful tribute to the beauty of steam power in the waning months of the year. We hope you enjoy, and please leave a like, share, and subscribe to the channel. God bless!
