I look at what Japanese and American teams found inside the BYD Seal, Atto 3 and Seagull, including the integrated drive unit, shared components and Blade battery. I then bring those findings back to Australia, where repair costs, parts access, warranty coverage, service networks and regional support can matter just as much as the original purchase price. I examine the risks around structural batteries, out-of-warranty repairs, recalls and the long-term ownership questions that a teardown cannot answer. I also cover BYD pricing, capped-price servicing, resale values, Australian buyer costs and what to check before signing for a BYD electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid. This is my workshop-based view of the engineering, the ownership reality and the unanswered questions beyond the warranty period.
