A murder that remained unsolved for decades. An interrogation that brought investigators face-to-face with a suspect who continued to deny his involvement.
In 1981, Ohio Lieutenant Ray “Joe” Clark was murdered at his home. Years later, investigators reopened the case and questioned Mitchell Ruble, examining his alibi, witness statements, physical evidence, and the events surrounding that night.
As the interrogation unfolds, detectives challenge his account and present the evidence they believe connects the pieces of the investigation. But what could the evidence actually prove?
The case eventually went to trial. In 2016, Ruble was found guilty of aggravated murder and sentenced to life in prison, with the possibility of parole after 15 years.
Watch this documentary-style breakdown to follow the interrogation, understand the investigation, and discover how a decades-old cold case reached its conclusion.
