Top 5 Ways to Setup Bands - Free Weights Together Free weight strength training has its place in training regardless of training age. However since age 40, Contrast Band-Free Weight Training has become the primary way I train with weights Over the past 20 years, I have 5 Go To Contrast Setups I use to keep free weight training at 60, joint friendly, athletic and allow me to make light weights heavier. My Top 5 Setups are: 1 - A Band Belt Setup - for Lower Body Strength Training and Standing Upper Body Strength Training. This setup completely frees up my hands and allows my lower body to squat and hinge freely. 2 - Advance Push Setup - This setup is used for any pushing movement. It keeps the band resistance close to my center of gravity which enhances shoulder stabilization and pushing strength. Plus it's a very versatile setup that is easy to setup and keeps my hands free to easily grasp any type of free weight. 3 - Hip Attached Setup - This setup brings in a horizontal resistance that compliments any vertical push or pull movement. I enjoy using this setup to enhance hip extension which brings the glutes more into play with any type of hinging exercise. 4 - Simple Looped Over Barbell Attachment - This simple barbell - band attachment is limited to vertical barbell movements like bentover rows, Zercher squats or curls. However with the added variable resistance, it helps me strengthen the last 30% of hip extension which is an important factor in many recreation activities like golf, tennis or softball. 5 - Hex Bar Deadlift Attachment - To me deadlifts are an exercise I want to keep in my routine for as long as possible considering how important lifting from the floor is in normal daily activities. Adding in a band eliminates having to lift heavy weights from the floor while challenging me in that final 30% of the movement. In most cases I prefer to hook the band to my body. This provides me greater control of the weight Keeps the band in a more proximal position Is typically easier and faster to set-up Is more versatile If you are an active aging fitness enthusiast who wants to keep free weight training safely in your workouts, Contrast Band - Free Weight Training needs to become a workout strategy you apply.
