Happy Wednesday! Sometimes, Mama's gotta get out on a solo hike, and that's where I'm taking you today. On the southeast side of Rankin Inlet, some roads and ATV trails lead to a beautiful spot where many people have built cabins over the years. In the summer, you can walk the trails that criss-cross all around, from down near Itivia (the loading zone for ships) up to near the gas station. In the winter, you can walk out on the sea ice and explore the islands close to shore. Remember that folks like their privacy, and there are often people staying out here in their cabins. Sometimes folks have dogs, and they might be loose. Please keep your dogs on leash near cabins and stay on the trails, though exploring more along the shore is fine. I'll talk more about winter safety when I hike this area in the winter! I got some wonderful surprises this hike that I'm excited to share with you. The birds in Nunavut are always fun to watch, even for a non-enthusiast for myself, and they were very active this morning - July 1, 2026. This hike starts at 62.80572581913705, -92.07857116266882.
