Psychosis (3.58) Rooted - (2014) - A small collection of songs produced during a time where I was becoming influenced by Oriental culture; Japanese Zen gardens, Reiki, Chinese Dragons, the Chinese Zodiac. I was listening to Blonde Redhead, heavily inspired by the female lead vocalist Kazu Makino, a native of Japan, plus other avant-garde 'niche' Japanese sound artists. The exploration of culture eventually led me back to Wales, the Welsh Dragon and a feeling of becoming 'rooted' into my own culture. The song 'Ci' is deeply symbolic of this intertwining representing 'Ci', 'Ki', 'Key', 'Chi' as Reiki and 'Ci' as the Welsh word for 'dog' the internal dual wolves, 1 white and 1 black representing the yin/yang polarities and balance in philosophy, and 'Key' as the eternal internal 'Key' of life that we each carry within. Rooted was originally a 5 track album called 'Sweets' but the title was disconnected and 2 of the songs were later removed 'Eaeao' and 'Psychosis' due to personal choices. Instrumentation includes vocals, bamboo windchimes, rainstick, frame drum, acoustic guitar, melodica, childrens audio books, glockenspiel and other world percussion. The colour world for Rooted is red, pink & black. Released October 10, 2014
