Before ambition drew him towards forbidden knowledge, he belonged to a world of affection and promise, a happiness whose loss would haunt every step of his ruin. (Verse 1) Beside the shining waters stood the house that held his youth, Where every room seemed sheltered by affection, peace, and truth. The mountains watched in silence while the summer evenings shone, And Victor knew no sorrow in the happiness of home. (Verse 2) His father’s steady kindness kept the household free from fear, His mother’s gentle presence made each common blessing dear. With Elizabeth beside him and young Henry at his side, He walked through days of wonder where no shadow could abide. (Chorus) Geneva held the morning of the life he cast away, A garden bright with promise at the opening of the day. Before forbidden knowledge drew his heart beyond recall, He lived among the people who had gladly given all. (Verse 3) He wandered by the water where the Alpine currents gleamed, And filled the quiet distances with everything he dreamed. The storms beyond the summits seemed too far to touch his name, Before the hidden powers of the world became his aim. (Verse 4) No grave had claimed his conscience and no secret stained his door, No footsteps crossed the midnight floor to haunt him evermore. He had a place within the world, a family, and a friend, Before he chose the lonely road that led him to the end. (Chorus) Geneva held the morning of the life he cast away, A garden bright with promise at the opening of the day. Before forbidden knowledge drew his heart beyond recall, He lived among the people who had gladly given all. (Bridge) In memory the city kept the sunlight of his spring, The voices at the table and the bells that used to ring. Yet every recollection made the later darkness grow, For happiness once given showed how much a man could throw. (Outro) So Geneva lived behind him like a lamp across the years, Still burning through confession, through the wilderness and tears. The home that formed his earliest joy remained beyond his reach, A silent truth of human love no science came to teach. #horrormusic #gothicmusic #metal #thrash #frankenstein #maryshelley
