Meet Helen Maddock, one of our Roguettes, as she shares her full story of living with sporadic hemiplegic migraine (SHM). Sporadic hemiplegic migraine is a type of hemiplegic migraine diagnosed in people without a known family or inherited connection to the condition. Attacks can cause frightening symptoms that resemble a stroke. In this honest and emotional interview, Helen discusses: • How sporadic hemiplegic migraine affects her daily life • Living with a condition that other people may not understand • Coping without the support she needed • The importance of friends, peer-support networks and people who genuinely understand • Seeking help through a GP and specialist neurology services • Why people struggling with the condition should never give up After dealing with her condition for six years, Helen explains how finding supportive people helped her reach where she is today. She also gives a special shout-out to Cheryl Warren and her worldwide hemiplegic migraine support group. Helen hopes that sharing her story will reach other people living with hemiplegic migraine and remind them that they do not have to face it alone. 💜 Learn more about Rogue Debby CIC and find support: https://roguedebby.co.uk/ 🎟️ Join our peer-support groups: https://www.eventbrite.com/o/rogue-de... ▶️ Subscribe for honest lived experiences, chronic illness support, disability awareness, mental health conversations, wheelchair adventures and plenty of rogue humour.
