What do I do when everything I can see tells me that Daddy’s promise has died?
At the end of Genesis 37, Jacob is holding Joseph’s bloodstained tunic. He believes his beloved son is dead and refuses to be comforted. But Joseph is not dead.
While Jacob is mourning what he believes is an ending, Daddy is moving Joseph toward Egypt. Jacob sees a bloodstained garment. Daddy sees the next stage of His plan.
In this episode of Meeting My Daddy Through Genesis, we see:
• Jacob’s favoritism deepen an existing family wound
• Joseph receive true dreams while still learning how to carry revelation
• Joseph seek the welfare of brothers who could not speak peacefully to him
• Unresolved resentment turn a brother into an object
• Judah change murder into profit by suggesting that Joseph be sold
• A goat and garment deceive Jacob just as Jacob once deceived Isaac
• Daddy’s promise continue even when Joseph’s family believes he is dead
• Judah’s hidden conduct and broken promise to Tamar come into the light
• Tamar require identifying evidence after Judah fails to keep his word
• Judah stop condemning Tamar and recognize his own responsibility
• Daddy preserve the family line through Perez without calling every action holy
• Joseph remain faithful while Potiphar’s wife repeatedly pressures him
• Joseph leave his garment behind to protect his integrity
• Righteousness lead to prison rather than immediate vindication
• Adonai remain with Joseph in the place he never would have chosen
Genesis 37–39 taught me that what looks like the death of Daddy’s promise may actually be the hidden road toward its fulfillment.
Joseph’s brothers could remove his garment, but they could not remove Daddy’s word. The pit could change his circumstances without canceling his assignment. A lie could damage his reputation without changing his identity. Prison could change his position without removing Daddy’s presence.
My Daddy is with me in every place. He can preserve the promise through the pit, expose what is hidden, and use even an unjust prison to prepare me for His purpose.
