OTB Beyond The Boards - Josh Lawrence

Beyond the Boards is a new series from Off the Boards that takes you beyond the game and into the stories of the people who live it. In each episode, we sit down with hockey personalities from all levels for short, personal conversations about their careers, experiences, challenges, and life away from the rink. No long interviews, no unnecessary fluff — just real conversations with the people behind the sport. For our first episode, we're joined by Fredericton, New Brunswick native Josh Lawrence. After an impressive QMJHL career that saw him record over 300 points, including a 101-point season with the Saint John Sea Dogs, Josh took his talents overseas and continued his professional hockey career in Europe. We sit down with Josh to talk about his journey, growing up in New Brunswick, playing in the QMJHL, making the jump overseas, and everything he's learned along the way. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Join the conversation: https://linktr.ee/OffTheBoards Twitter: https://x.com/OTBHockeyPod Instagram:   / offtheboardsjr   Tiktok:   / offtheboardsjr   Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/40UWEvE... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Time Stamps - 0:00 - Intro — Beyond the Boards 0:24 - Welcome, Josh Lawrence 0:34 - Growing Up in Fredericton 2:16 - Finding Success in the QMJHL 3:14 - Why Josh Chose Europe Over NA 4:54 - Josh's KHL Experience 7:13 - Hockey Differences Across Europe 9:01 - The Overtime Assist & Championship Run With HK Nitra 10:57 - Josh's NHL Dream 12:20 - Hot Start to the Season 12:58 - The Faceoff Goal 13:54 - North American vs. European Ice 14:57 - Lightning Round 15:12 - Favorite City He's Played In 15:36 - Most Memorable Season 16:01 - Best Player He's Played With or Against 17:04 - Advice for Young Hockey Players 18:21 - Who Josh Would Love to Play With 19:24 - Final Thoughts & Outro
