September Garden To-Do List: 10 Things to Do Right Now

September is a major transition month in the garden. Summer vegetables may still be producing, fall seedlings need to be planted, temperatures may still be hot, and the first frost is getting closer. In this video, I’m sharing 10 important tasks to add to your September garden to-do list. We’ll talk about evaluating summer crops, continuing to harvest, finishing the fall garden, succession planting, preparing newly emptied beds, protecting young seedlings from lingering heat and getting ready for cooler weather. I’m also sharing what to watch for with fall garden pests, how cover crops can protect unused garden beds, which frost-protection supplies to locate now and why this is a good time to document what worked—and what didn’t—during the growing season.
