Join me in Puerto Montt, Chile walking along the costanera past Sentados Frente al Mar from the Plaza de Armas to Angelmó
I came into Puerto Montt on the train and had already spent part of the day walking around the center and stopping at the mall, so this walk came near the end of my visit. I'd heard the fish market at Angelmó was one of the things you're supposed to see here, and since the map showed it was basically a straight road along the water, I decided to walk it instead of taking an Uber, even though it said it'd take 40-some minutes. I happened to pick a rainy, overcast day, but it only drizzled here and there, and the walk itself was flat, easy, and really pretty along the shoreline. With my little legs it took me longer than it probably should have, but I don't regret it. My camera battery died once I got to Angelmó, so the market itself isn't in the video. I only walked through part of it because I wanted to catch the three o'clock train back to Puerto Varas, but I did have lunch at a small restaurant just outside it and tried the paila marina, a seafood soup with mussels and shellfish that comes in a clay pot. It was a filling, hearty plate of food. I'd have liked a bit more lime and spice in it, but that's just how I like my seafood, not a knock on the dish. I enjoyed Puerto Montt, and it seems like a city with a lot to do.
The route runs 2.1 km (1.3 miles) along the Costanera in Puerto Montt, Chile, from the Plaza de Armas to Angelmó, filmed in 4K at walking pace, and it runs about 40 minutes. There's no music and at most some light commentary from me, so what you hear is the street the way it actually sounded.
A 360 camera films in every direction at once, so there's nowhere out of frame for me to stand. I keep out of the way where I can, but every now and then you'll catch the back of my head, a bit of hair, or the edge of my glasses in a corner. Same goes for the occasional sound, so if I trip over something or spot something worth a reaction, you'll hear that too, and sometimes I'll chat a little along the way.
Faces and license plates are blurred as best as possible.
