Getting Acquainted With Subendocardial Ischemia

Many healthcare providers that read and interpret ECGs as part of their profession often have a gross misunderstanding of subendocardial ischemia. First, there is a tendency to think of all subendocardial ischemia as "chronic." It MIGHT be chronic... but there's also a very good chance it is acute! Did you know that EVERY acute MI begins as an acute subendocardial ischemia? Have you been referring to "inferior subendocardial ischemia" or "anteroseptal subendocardial ischemia" or "anterolateral subendocardial ischemia?" If so, you're likely the victim of some serious misinformation!
