This wasn’t originally my planned journey. I should have taken the 0813 TransPennine Express service from Liverpool Lime Street towards Lancaster, operated by a Class 397. Instead, I took this Northern Class 323 to Wigan North Western, before changing for the 0926 Avanti West Coast service to Lancaster, operated by a Class 390 Pendolino. The change of plan gave me the chance to film the complete Class 323 journey. We travel through Liverpool’s eastern suburbs before continuing through Huyton, Prescot, St Helens and Garswood towards Wigan. Several stops were slightly early.
