I Paid Union Dues for 20 Years. Here's What the D&D Union Is Up Against

The Dungeons & Dragons team and Studio X told Wizards of the Coast on October 6, 2026 that they're unionizing with the CWA, and gave the company until October 13 to recognize them. Who the law protects, who it leaves out, and what the Magic Arena union fight says about next week. 📰 This is Tenkar's Tavern Dispatch, the news desk. For B/X and OSR deep dives, the main channel is here:    / @tenkarstavern   I carried a union card as a cop and paid my lifetime dues when I retired, so I wish these folks luck. But federal labor law excludes supervisors and managers, and on a tabletop team, a lot of the creatives double as management. The Arena union's own case file shows where that line falls, and freelancers sit outside it entirely. Their demand list also includes ownership of work staff create outside the office.
