OBR Ep. 62: RV Climate Control Options. Which one is best! Which one would I pick if I could only have one? Camping in a converted van, SUV, or car? You've got to consider the most basic needs for survival, which are food, water, shelter, and air. Fresh air is often overlooked but insufficient air can kill you quicker than the others. Obviously, carbon monoxide is the number one air quality concern. It comes from the exhaust of an internal combustion engine, such as your car or a generator. Basic rule is don't sit or sleep in an idling vehicle longer than you'd set in a car through one cycle at a signal light. Hot exhaust will rise and can enter any vehicle why you sleep. Your second concern should be sufficient supply of oxygen. Only a 3 or 4% oxygen variation from the atmospheric normal can cause issues between headaches to death by suffocation while sleeping. There a basically 4 types of climate control options, which are a fan, a passive air induction ventilation system, a forced air exhaust ventilator, and a cooling/heating system. Watch video for explanation of each. Thanks for watching!
