A horizontal line is called a constant function: every point on it has the same y-value. For the line y = 5 that keeps going forever in both directions, the domain is all the x-values the graph covers, which is the whole x-axis: x goes from negative infinity to positive infinity, (−∞, ∞), or simply all real numbers. The range is every y-value on the graph, and that is only one number, so the range is {5}. Because it continues forever, this is an unbounded constant function.
