367 Collins Falcons ~CHICK FALLS INTO GUTTER SEEKING SHADE! F24 IS BUSY BEING MUMBRELLA 2026 OCT 10

It was a sunny day and the heat stress from the rocks and building made it very hot for the falcon chicks. F24 was brooding her four chicks but they all were panting to cool off and restless. F24 would run down the gutter to cool off & the chicks wanted to follow her. One chick did and made a beeline for the gutter shade. F24 pulls the chick back under her but it escapes again and falls right into the gutter. F24 tries to get it out but then just decided to brood the chick right there. The other three chicks were in direct sun and were hot so she would rush over and try and brood them for short periods of time. F24 went back and forth from the chick in the gutter and the other chicks. A second chick escapes the heat and ends up in the shade right next to the gutter. F24 tries to pick it up and bring it back but ends up brooding it right there for a moment before going back to the other two chicks. F24 had her talons full today taking care of all her chicks! Update: The chick in the far corner has not moved in over three hours and may not have survived. We are awaiting Dr Hurley's review and he will make a statement later tonight. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is nest is home to a pair of Peregrine Falcons on the 33rd-floor ledge of the “367 Collins Street” skyscraper in Melbourne, Australia. Located about 150 metres above ground in Melbourne’s CBD, this nesting site has been observed continuously since 1991, making it one of the city’s most famous wildlife spots.
