The client seeked a residence that embodies a seamless blend of functionality and aesthetics, where the boundaries between indoors and outdoors are minimized. Space precise in form, yet generous in experience. The client value simplicity, elegance, and a deep connection to nature, and wanted an architectural expression that reflects these ideals. The goal was to create a harmonious living space that celebrates the natural surroundings, incorporates sustainable design principles, and provides a tranquil retreat for the family. The house is conceived as a pure, geometric volume, rigorously composed and strategically punctured to create a series of courtyards that dissolve the boundary between interior and exterior. These voids are not residual spaces, but deliberate architectural moments that introduce light, air, and landscape deep into the mass of the building. The planning is driven by spatial continuity and visual connectivity. The public functions such as living, dining, and family rooms are aligned along the pool edge, unfolding as a single, fluid zone. Large openings erase the threshold between inside and outside, allowing the pool court to become the spatial and experiential core of the home. Movement through these spaces is intuitive, with framed views and shifting perspectives reinforcing the relationship between architecture and nature. Materiality is treated with restraint and intention. A limited palette of travertine marble and oak veneer establishes a calm, cohesive interior language. The natural textures and muted tones allow light and shadow to animate the spaces, emphasizing proportion, geometry, and depth rather than ornamentation. Beyond the dining area, a stone grotto emerges as a sculptural intervention in the landscape. Designed as a pavilion, it introduces a tactile, monolithic counterpoint to the refined geometry of the main house. This grotto becomes both a focal element and an immersive outdoor room—rooted, elemental, and deeply connected to the sensory experience of the home. Casaviva is defined by clarity of form, disciplined material choices, and a seamless integration of indoor and outdoor spaces—an architecture that is both composed and alive.
