After figuring out the local payment system and getting everything sorted, I head to Mohan Railway Station to experience China’s incredible high-speed rail network for the first time. The journey from Mohan to Kunming is an eye-opening experience. The train is incredibly clean, modern and fast, and the infrastructure feels more like an airport than a railway system. 🚄 Once I reach Kunming, I use the city’s metro system to get around and discover just how affordable and efficient public transportation is. Along the way, I also get my first glimpse of modern Chinese city life — from the huge number of electric vehicles to the clean streets, organized infrastructure and futuristic urban environment.
