Join me on a 30-minute 4K walk through Macau 🇲🇴 on a hot May afternoon, in the second part of this walk. Narrow lanes filled with snack shops, souvenir stores and colonial buildings make for a lively and colorful stroll. Macau is made up of a peninsula and the islands of Taipa and Coloane. In 1974 the first bridge linking the peninsula to Taipa opened, and land reclamation later joined the two islands to create the Cotai area. Its streets are famous for local snacks such as pork chop buns, almond cookies and Portuguese egg tarts. These flavors reflect more than four centuries of mixing between Chinese and Portuguese cultures since 1557. Today Macau covers about 33 square kilometers and is home to roughly 690,000 residents.
