Is Paris truly the City of Love, or is it a masterclass in urban survival, timeless design, and the art of living well?
After five visits to the French capital, I thought I knew what to expect. But this time, I arrived straight from the freezing Arctic into a sweltering Parisian heatwave, with no air conditioning to rescue me. Between the unfamiliar discomfort, the endless queues, and the sheer number of people chasing the perfect Parisian postcard, this trip turned out to be quite different from the ones before.
And perhaps that was exactly what I needed.
Because when you look beyond the cafés, croissants, grand boulevards, and glittering Eiffel Tower, you begin to discover a city with a fascinating story to tell. A city that began as a modest settlement on the banks of the Seine, grew through Roman rule and medieval struggles, and was eventually reshaped into one of the most recognisable urban landscapes in the world.

In this travel film, we travel through nearly 2,000 years of Parisian history, uncover the extraordinary story behind its architecture, explore the landmarks that have made it famous, and discover quieter corners where the city reveals a gentler side of itself.
From the history of the croissant and the legendary hot chocolate at Angelina to the magnificent Louvre, the hidden covered passages of the 19th century, and a sunset cruise along the Seine, this is Paris beyond the postcard.
Perhaps the real secret of Paris isn't how much you can see, but how much you allow yourself to feel.
