Have you ever looked back at an old photo and realised you looked great even though, at the time, you hated the way you looked?
In this episode of The Dynamic Podcast, Rianon and Brendon have an honest conversation about body dysmorphia, poor body image and why changing your body doesn’t always change the way you see yourself.
We unpack the difference between feeling insecure and becoming completely consumed by a perceived flaw. We also discuss constantly checking the mirror, comparing yourself with others, seeking reassurance and feeling like you’re never lean, muscular or attractive enough, regardless of how much progress you make.
We explore how gym culture, progress photos, body scans and social media can distort what we believe a “normal” body should look like, as well as muscle dysmorphia and why many men struggle to ever feel big enough.
Can you want to lose fat or build muscle without hating your current body? When does discipline become obsession? And why doesn’t achieving your “dream body” always create the confidence you expected?
You’re allowed to want to improve your body but your appearance shouldn’t determine your entire value as a person.
This episode is a general discussion based on our experiences as coaches. It isn’t intended to diagnose body dysmorphic disorder or replace professional mental-health advice.
