Ep 01 - Is the Sabbath Moral? | Engaging the Critics

Welcome to the first episode of our new series, Engaging the Critics. This series is a direct response to Mike Colburn’s Engaging Adventism series. Our goal is to work through every video in his series carefully, examining the biblical arguments, the claims made about Seventh-day Adventist theology, and the evidence presented. In this first episode, we respond to Mike’s argument that the Sabbath commandment is not moral in nature. During his presentation, Mike references a previous Advent Defense League video in which he appeared as a guest. He uses several clips from that discussion and offers his interpretation of what was being argued. In this response, Pastor Anthony Burrell revisits those statements in their original context and carefully examines the major points Mike raises. Is the fourth commandment merely ceremonial or temporary? Can the Sabbath legitimately be described as a moral commandment? And what does Scripture itself say about the nature of God’s commandments? Rather than relying on sound bites, this episode will slow the discussion down, examine the relevant biblical texts, and allow the arguments on both sides to be tested.
