Deep beneath the bustling streets of ancient Rome, soldiers and citizens once gathered in secret to perform mysterious rituals away from the public eye. Tonight, we explore the hidden underground temples known as mithraea, where the ancient world’s most private brotherhoods sought meaning in the dark. You will discover the sensory details of these subterranean sanctuaries and the silent bonds that defined their lives across the empire. There is nothing to do here and nothing to remember, so let your breathing slow as we descend into this quiet, forgotten history together. Settle in and allow the measured, scholarly pace of our journey to guide you toward a restful sleep.
