Learn a practical procedure for staying calm, professional and solution-focused during challenging workplace situations. This lesson explains how to recognise emotional triggers such as criticism, customer complaints, unrealistic deadlines and feeling unfairly blamed. You will learn to pause before replying, take a breath, listen fully and organise your thoughts before speaking. It also covers calm body language, an even tone and the importance of separating the emotion from the practical issue. Use solution-focused questions such as “What can we do to resolve this?” and “How can we move forward?” to reduce defensiveness and encourage collaboration. The lesson also explains how composure can build trust, support clearer decision-making and protect professional relationships. To apply the approach, practise it across four workplace scenarios: critical feedback, customer complaints, unexpected deadlines and disagreements with colleagues. The six principles are then recapped so you can review your triggers, regulate your response and focus on constructive outcomes rather than blame.
