This Heat Wave Could Break Our $0 Boondocking Challenge

The Washington to Florida $0 Boondocking Challenge just got HOT. 🔥 After packing up at Clark Canyon Reservoir, we're heading toward Moran, Wyoming and Grand Teton National Park — but we're driving straight into a heat wave with temperatures predicted to reach the 90s. As full-time boondockers, we rely heavily on our solar setup to power the RV. That means running the AC for hours isn't exactly part of the plan. So we created a Heat Wave Sub-Challenge to see if we could keep the RV and our animals comfortable while relying on as little power as possible. We tested 3 different ways to keep the RV cool: ☀️ Method 1: Windows open — no fans, no AC 💨 Method 2: Windows open + fans running — no AC ❄️ Method 3: Windows closed + AC on Cool mode And we had 3 goals: 1️⃣ Keep the RV below 84° 2️⃣ Don't rely on the generator— use solar as much as possible 3️⃣ Keep Franky and Wesley comfortable and cool But before we could even start the heat challenge, our travel day threw us a few curveballs. We had to stop and dump our tanks, navigate Teton Pass, including a steep 10% grade we definitely weren't expecting, find fresh drinking water, and somehow squeeze our truck and 5th wheel into a parking lot we probably had no business being in. 😂 Eventually, we made it to Moran and found an absolutely beautiful boondocking spot — and that's where the real heat test began. So… did we survive 90° Wyoming heat without depending on our generator? Did we keep the RV under 84°? And most importantly… were Franky and Wesley comfortable? You'll have to watch to find out!
