September 19th, 2026, marked the 125th anniversary of rail service to the Grand Canyon. Originally built and served by the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railway, the line has been owned and operated by the Grand Canyon Railway since 1989. To celebrate, the Grand Canyon Railway ran a unique Steam Locomotive “Double Header” on their daily excursion from Williams to the South Village of the Grand Canyon. In this video, we’ll take a look the GCRY operations, and follow the steam excursion throughout the day, between Williams and the Grand Canyon. All locations and description in the video.
