EP Desk, Pasighat, September 23: The Department of Mass Communication, Arunachal Pradesh University (APU), organised a River Cleanup Drive at Sibo Korong River in Pasighat on September 23 as part of the campaign commemorating 150 years of Vande Mataram. Held under the theme “Swachh Nadi, Swachh Bharat,” the initiative aimed to promote cleanliness, environmental awareness and responsible waste disposal among students and the wider community. APU students and staff took part in the cleanliness drive, joined by several collaborating organisations, including the Pasighat Municipal Council (PMC), YMCR, NSS-JNC, All Bogong Student Union (ABSU), Bogong Banggo Yameng Kebang (BBYK), RBYC and Arunachal Pradesh University Students’ Union (APUSU). Speaking on the initiative, APU Registrar Shri Narmi Darang highlighted the importance of collective participation in maintaining clean rivers and protecting the environment. He appreciated the support and cooperation extended by the participating organisations and the local community. He also expressed special appreciation to the Pasighat Municipal Council, including Chief Councillor Shri Tagom Padung, for their cooperation and support towards the cleanliness campaign. The river cleanup drive is part of a month-long programme that began on September 12, with further cleanliness and awareness activities planned in the coming days. The campaign will culminate on October 7, when a Union Minister is scheduled to attend the main concluding programme as Chief Guest. The university has appealed to the people of Pasighat to join and support the initiative, stressing the importance of collective efforts to keep rivers and public spaces clean.
