Turkey has dramatically increased its diesel purchases from India, even as Ankara remains one of Pakistan’s closest strategic partners. In August 2026, Turkish imports of Indian diesel crossed 120,000 barrels per day, marking the highest monthly level in Kpler data since 2017. The shift comes amid disruptions affecting traditional fuel supplies. Russia has historically been a major energy supplier to Turkey, while wider disruptions in Russian and Middle Eastern fuel flows have pushed Turkish buyers to seek alternative sources. India has emerged as an important supplier of refined petroleum products.
