Under the glass vaults of the station, a lady in crimson stands beside the red engine, while travelers in white helmets gather on the platform with their quiet automatons. Hours later, the signal finally comes. One after another, the trains of the Stone Coast pull out into the rain, the domes of Aurora fading behind a round, rain-streaked window, bound for Shore's End, which its people call Westenelion. A FEAST DAY FOR THE HARVESTERS What delays a timetable is a celebration for the lightning harvesters. Through the pine forests and the old stone villages, white egg-shaped vessels stand along the rails and drink the charge out of the rain, some of them marching in single file across the mud while a lone keeper in an oilskin coat tunes a hovering disc with a brass rod. High in the branches, pine martens watch them pass. Inside the warm compartments, tea is served, luggage walks toward the carriages on long brass legs, and a woman in cream lace watches blue sparks leap between two passing trains. PALACES IN THE THUNDER Beyond a tunnel carved into the cliff, the sea appears all at once, breaking in pale foam against the rocks. White palaces cling to the headlands as lightning strikes behind their domes. From there, the line runs along the ledges and through a gate carved like a serene stone face, descending to the flooded shore, where cathedrals rise straight out of the waves and houses stand on iron stilts. A white giant keeps watch waist-deep in the surf as two gentlemen in top hats drift above the cliffs beneath flying discs. No one aboard seems to mind the weather: a young couple dozes in brass headphones, an old officer studies the drowned towers from his window, and on a wet platform, a line of ladies in sculptural hats watches the red express rush past. WESTENELION Near the end of the line, the storm begins to break, and a shaft of sun cuts through the clouds ahead of the leading car. Shore's End is no great capital: it is a small city on the coast that lives off its storms, and today its tall white towers are full of lightning. The rooftops are crowned with gleaming spheres, whale-shaped airships wait overhead, and a domed terminus stands at the end of a causeway over the sea, where a rose window glows above the crowd. By nightfall, the sea is calm, and a moon rises over the promenade where white homes float above the water. For the harvesters, it has been a day to celebrate, and for the passengers, a storm they will remember. In Westenelion, no one can quite say whether the trains brought the storm, or the storm brought the trains. 00:00 Cleared to Depart: The Storm Trains Leave Aurora Station 00:56 The Lightning Harvest: Pine Forests and Stone Villages 02:16 Life Aboard: Dining Car and Walking Luggage 02:48 The Sea at Last: Cliff Palaces Under the Lightning 03:52 Harbor Lights: Pier Pavilion and Engine Cab 04:24 Through the Stone Face: The Flooded Shore 05:20 Stilt Houses, Sea Palaces and the Red Express 06:08 The Storm Breaks: First Sight of Shore's End 06:48 Arrival: The Rose Window Terminus 07:04 Moonrise on the Promenade Designed as a cinematic, musical ASMR experience for quiet contemplation and rest, this steampunk journey through the storm blends the atmospheric beauty of ambient sci-fi with the grace of a lost vintage future.
