Fishing & Cooking on a Small Boat in Vietnam | A Day at Sea

At 3 AM, we head out to sea off the coast of northern Vietnam for another day of fishing on our small boat. But what begins as a normal fishing trip takes an unexpected turn when our boat breaks down at sea. In the cold morning fog, we follow the tides to set our fishing nets, hoping for a good catch. As the sun rises, we begin pulling in our nets, finding more shrimp than fish. We also prepare a simple meal using freshly caught seafood, cooking right on our small fishing boat. But our day doesn't go as planned. First, the engine's cooling system develops a problem. Then, a failing battery leaves us unable to restart the boat. Thankfully, we meet some kind neighbors from our coastal community who stop to help. They even help us remove fish from our nets and give us a ride back to our landing area. This is a true glimpse into the everyday lives of Vietnamese fishermen, where hard work, unexpected challenges, and the kindness of our neighbors are all part of life at sea.
