Ukiyo - the floating world. The name the old poets gave to everything that will not stay: the light on the water, the evening you are in right now, the people you cannot keep. On the river below a mountain temple, late at night, paper lanterns lit from inside are set on the black water and carried slowly away, each small orange light doubled by its own reflection, until the last one rounds the bend and is gone. Nobody swims after them. That is the whole point. Two hours of slow Japanese zen music for meditation, inner peace and healing: koto, shakuhachi flute and a warm low drone, over the low sound of moving water, with the dry touch of paper on paper and one soft knock of a wave against a boat. Use this for meditation and mindfulness practice, for inner peace and healing, for study, deep focus, or yoga, and for any evening when you are learning to let something go. It also works as gentle sleep music if you leave it playing, and as quiet music for the end of a long day. Tracks in this session - six original pieces, looping for two hours: 1. The River Takes Them One by One 2. A Hundred Lights on Dark Water 3. Nothing Anchors What Floats 4. The Far Bank Keeps Its Silence 5. Where the Current Slows 6. The Last Lantern Rounds the Bend Two hours of Japanese zen ambient music for meditation, inner peace, healing and deep relaxation.
