What if your body has been trying to tell you something all along, but you've been too busy taking care of everyone else to listen? As moms, we're constantly juggling schedules, emotions, responsibilities, and the needs of everyone around us. Sometimes we're so used to pushing through the overwhelm that we don't even recognize how much stress we're carrying in our bodies.
In this episode of Made for Minnesota Moms, I'm chatting with Christine Lord, a licensed clinical social worker and somatic psychotherapist based in Stillwater, Minnesota. With 25 years of social work experience and 18 years providing therapy, Christine helps women better understand their emotions, nervous systems, and the physical responses that accompany stress.
I'll admit, before this conversation, I didn't fully understand what somatic therapy was. I knew about traditional talk therapy, but I hadn't really considered how much our bodies contribute to the conversation.
Christine breaks it all down in a way that makes so much sense, especially for moms who are constantly feeling overstimulated, touched out, anxious, or emotionally exhausted. If you've ever felt overwhelmed by the constant demands of motherhood, I think you'll find this conversation incredibly reassuring and helpful.
