Arriving in a new country with a rare disease meant starting my healthcare system journey over from scratch.
I arrived with medical records, referrals and the hope that my treatment would continue where it had stopped. Instead, I had to rebuild years of medical history while my body was growing weaker.
In this video, I share what starting again required, and what I wish I had organized before entering a new healthcare system.
Learning to navigate a new healthcare system requires more than just bringing paperwork; it demands patience and clear communication. Sharing my experience is part of my ongoing commitment to patient advocacy, helping others understand that you are allowed to ask questions and seek the clarity you deserve.
NB: This is my personal healthcare experience.
Subscribe to continue the journey with me as I share my experiences with POEMS syndrome, faith, and rebuilding life. Have you ever had to advocate for your own care after moving? Share your story in the comments.
