A journey across time begins.” BUSAN MUSEUM Since its opening in 1978, the Busan Museum has served as the city’s central institution for preserving and presenting local history and culture. With a collection of around 22,000 artifacts—1,300 of which are on permanent display—the museum offers a chronological journey from prehistoric times to the modern era. A major renovation in 2002 expanded the museum into a comprehensive cultural complex featuring 10 permanent galleries, special exhibition halls, cultural experience rooms, and archival facilities. Dongnae Hall introduces the history and culture of Busan, based on the relics excavated in Busan area, from the Paleolithic Period to Goryeo Dynasty. The Busan Hall offers a look at the history of Japan-Korea relations—centered on Busan—dating back to the Joseon Dynasty, as well as the city's modern and contemporary landscape.
