Can One Colour Bring a Sea Turtle to Life? | Watercolour

Watch a sea turtle watercolour painting emerge from blank paper to finished wildlife artwork using a limited Viridian Green palette. Everdeep is my expressive watercolour painting of a sea turtle, created as part of my Monochrome March series using Viridian Green. Working with a deliberately restricted colour palette meant relying on changes in value, preserved white paper and the natural movement of watercolour to create depth and form rather than reaching for additional colours. I particularly loved exploring the patterns across the turtle's shell, head and flippers while allowing other areas to become much looser. Washes, splashes and flowing marks help Everdeep emerge from the surrounding water rather than defining every edge. This painting forms part of my ongoing exploration of expressive wildlife and nature in watercolour.
